Thousands of teachers across the country have used their complimentary set of Really Great Reading's Diagnostic Decoding Surveys to help understand their students’ specific reading weaknesses. For years, teachers have asked for alternative forms of the surveys for progress monitoring. RGR now offers the Diagnostic Decoding Surveys User’s Guide, with seven forms of the surveys (A-G) for initial assessment and progress monitoring.
RGR's Diagnostic Decoding Surveys include two informal diagnostic tools for one-on-one assessment of phonics skills. The Beginning Decoding Survey assesses a student's ability to read single-syllable words with short vowels and high-frequency words. The Advanced Decoding Survey assesses how well students read unfamiliar words with more advanced vowel patterns and their ability to read familiar and unfamiliar multi-syllable words.
